Abstract

Competency + motivation = performance.

It’s worthwhile to stop considering what others think about us, as they will influence you, most certainly in the wrong way (e.g. tell you cannot do it).

There are 5 love languages:

  • physical touch
  • gift
  • act of service
  • quality of time
  • word of affirmation

We could also have 4 recognition languages:

  • word of affirmation
  • quality of time
  • gift
  • act of service

We can keep a “feel good journal”, so we can read back whenever we are feeling down.

  • where? any notebook, paper
  • what? date, context, what made me feel good
  • when? note as soon as possible (otherwise, you will forget)

Find joy in little things.

Beware of Peter principle. Do not always seek promotion, as they can make you miserable instead. Find the right balance. Ask yourself some questions before trying to reach the next “level”:

  • On self:
    • What do I know to do?
    • What do I like to do?
    • What do I feel like to do?
    • What are my limits?
  • On the job:
    • What will I have to do?
    • Do I fancy doing it?
    • Does that job make sense?
    • Do I understand what’s expecting from me?
    • Who will coach me and how?
